Fall Updates from The Meemic Foundation

September 10, 2024

While we are busy shipping and delivering grant awards now that school’s back in session, we’re also busy behind the scenes working on a number of things for you.

Anti-Bullying Initiatives

We’re happy to announce that the Community Conversation on Bullying will be back this year from our friends at Defeat the Label. It will include the popular panel discussion with this year’s Michigan Regional Teachers of the Year, along with other guest speakers. This year, it will take place on Nov. 8.

Defeat the Label’s Stand4Change Day is moving to Oct. 9 to coincide with International Stop Bullying Day. Defeat the Label is partnering with the NEA and AFT to bring the awareness campaign to a larger audience. Details are still being hammered out, but a toolkit should be available by the end of the month at DefeatTheLabel.com/Stand4Change-2024.

Keep an eye on our socials for more news on both events!

Fall Grant Opportunities

There’s still time to apply for our latest grants. The monthly grant is $50 to spend with Teachers Pay Teachers. For the quarterly grant, we’re offering a Vivo Sit to Stand Desk Riser to help keep you on your toes in the classroom. The deadline for both grants is Sept. 30. Find details for both at MeemicFoundation.org/Grants.*

And a new round of monthly and quarterly grants is just around the corner starting Oct. 1. Don’t miss out!

‘Cheers for Educators’

Our annual “Cheers for Educators” event was a big success. Grant winners were able to attend the event with author Jon Gordon (“The Energy Bus” and “The Energy Bus for Schools”) live on Aug. 28, where he shared some inspirational advice and answered questions.

A recording of that event is now available in the Foundation Club Resource Library. Just log in to your club account to access the recording. Not a Foundation Club member? Join for free at https://Member.MeemicFoundation.org. Once you’ve signed up, you’ll be able to access our grant opportunities and other benefits, too!

Foundation Fundraising

Thank you to everyone who attended our annual Fore! Education golf outing and fundraiser. Over 100 golfers hit the links and mingled with some of our current and past Michigan Teachers of the Year and Regional Teachers of the Year. Others kept cool indoors with a pottery-painting activity. As usual, lots of fun was had by all.

We’d also like to take this opportunity to encourage you to consider The Meemic Foundation as you plan your year-end giving. All donations go directly to our Foundation programs to provide assistance to the educational community. Find out how at MeemicFoundation.org/Donate.
